What Does a 3-Star Rating Mean for an Umrah Hotel?
A 3-star rating is the Saudi Ministry of Tourism's official classification for a mid-range hotel, with a licence number anyone can check; in the 3-star hotels we book, that means practical rooms for two to four people and breakfast you can add. In Makkah and Madinah it describes the hotel itself, not how close it is to the mosque.
Among the 3-star hotels we book, those in Makkah stand 300 m to 950 m from Masjid al-Haram, and most in Madinah 150 m to 700 m from Masjid an-Nabawi, with a few further out at lower prices. Some well-known names carry an official 3-star rating, such as InterContinental Dar Al Hijra in Madinah and Le Meridien Makkah.

Is 3 Star or 4 Star Better for Umrah?
3 Star is better if the price matters most; 4 Star is better if you want breakfast, private transfers and an Umrah guide, for £45 to £65 more per adult. On 10 nights the upgrade does not shorten your walk in Makkah — both hotels are 950 m from Masjid al-Haram — so you pay for comfort rather than location.

ZIYARAT
Can You Add Ziyarat to a 3 Star Umrah Package?
Yes. Guided Ziyarat can be added to any 3 Star Umrah package: a Makkah tour of about two and a half hours and a Madinah tour of about two hours, priced in your quote. In Makkah the tour visits sites such as the Cave of Hira on Jabal al-Nour, Jabal al-Thawr, Arafat and Jabal ar-Rahmah, and Mina and Muzdalifah; in Madinah, Masjid Quba, Jabal Uhud, Masjid al-Qiblatain and the Seven Mosques.
The 3 Star itineraries leave room for it: day 5 of the 10-night trip is kept free for Ziyarat, and the 14-night trip sets aside day 7 for Makkah's historic sites and day 13 for Madinah. Our Ziyarat guide describes every stop.

How Much Does a 3 Star Umrah Package Cost for a Family?
A family of two adults and two children aged 2 to 11 pays from £2,020 on 3 Star 7 Nights, sharing a quad room. On that package a child with their own bed costs £475, a child in the parents' bed £380 and a baby under 2 £165; a double room for two adults is £785 each, £250 more than four to a room.

MEALS AND ROOMS
Do 3 Star Umrah Packages Include Meals?
No — 3 Star Umrah packages are room only, but every hotel in the tier serves breakfast you can add. At Emaar Al Mektan in Madinah, for example, the daily buffet breakfast costs SAR 45 per person, and Emaar Al Mektan and Emaar Royal both offer 24-hour room service for meals after late prayers.
Rooms are quad, triple or double; Emaar Royal also has family rooms for up to five. For wheelchair users, Emaar Al Manar, Emaar Andalusia, Al Aqeeq Al Rawda and Al Ebaa are fully accessible, and Emaar Royal reaches its upper floors by lift. 3 Star Umrah for Ramadan, Women, Families and Every UK City
A 3 Star package works in any month and from any UK city, for women travelling together, families and mosque groups alike; only Ramadan and the school holidays push its price up.
3 Star in Ramadan and at Easter
Ramadan is the busiest and dearest time for every tier, 3 Star included; our Ramadan Umrah packages page covers the last ten nights and when to book. Easter Sunday 2027 comes after the last Umrah entry date, so a spring 3 Star trip must land by 23 March: see Umrah at Easter.
For women, families and groups
Women without a Mahram can join a women-only group on a 3 Star budget through women's Umrah packages. Are airport transfers included in 3 Star Umrah packages?
Yes. A shared transfer takes you from Jeddah airport to your Makkah hotel, from Makkah to Madinah and back to the airport, so you do not need a taxi.
Is Ziyarat included in 3 Star Umrah packages?
Not as standard: it is added to a 3 Star package and priced in your quote. If you want it included, 4 Star 10 and 14 Nights come with guided Ziyarat in both cities.
Can I upgrade the transport on a 3 Star Umrah package?
Yes. You can swap the shared transfers for a private car, or travel between Makkah and Madinah on the Haramain High-Speed Railway.
Can I change my 3 Star Umrah package?

Yes. On 3 Star 7 Nights a baby under 2 costs £165, a child sharing the parents' bed £380 and a child with their own bed £475. Tell us the ages when you ask for a quote.
Are 3 Star Umrah hotels within walking distance of the Haram?
Yes. Our Makkah 3-star hotels are 500 to 950 m from Masjid al-Haram and our Madinah 3-star hotels 220 to 700 m from Masjid an-Nabawi.
Are 3 Star Umrah packages ATOL protected?
Yes. Every package with flights is protected by ATOL 74904, and the ATOL certificate comes with your tickets once the 50% payment is made; the number can be checked on the CAA's ATOL holder search.
How do I pay for a 3 Star Umrah package, and what if I cancel?
£50 per person holds your booking and is part of the price; 50% of the price is due within 24 hours, and the balance 20 days before departure. The balance can be paid in up to two instalments, and a booking made within 20 days of departure is paid in full once the tickets are issued. Cancellations are made in writing by the lead passenger, and the booking terms apply. Once a booking is confirmed and invoiced, payments are not refunded, so take out travel insurance that covers cancellation.
When is a 3 Star Umrah package cheapest?
Outside Ramadan and the UK school holidays, and on the 14-night package, which costs £47.50 a night. Our cheap Umrah packages page lists more ways to lower the price.
Is there a shuttle from 3 Star hotels to the Haram?
Our 3 Star hotels are within walking distance instead: 500 to 950 m from Masjid al-Haram and 220 to 700 m from Masjid an-Nabawi. If walking is hard for you, ask us for the closest hotel when you book.
