January Umrah Packages

January Umrah packages are Umrah trips from the UK in the coolest month of the year, after the Christmas holidays and before Ramadan, with flights, the Saudi visa, hotels in both holy cities and transfers in one ATOL-protected price. A January week costs from £500 per adult with four sharing on Economy, and five nights without flights from £350. Is January a Good Month for Umrah?

Yes. January is the coolest month of the year in Makkah and Madinah, schools are back after the first few days, and it is the last full month before Ramadan 2027, so it is priced at our year-round rates. Sha'ban begins around 9 January, and many pilgrims use the month to perform Umrah before the fast.

What Is the Weather Like in Makkah and Madinah in January?

The mildest of the year: afternoons average 31°C in Makkah and 24°C in Madinah, and nights fall to 19°C and 12°C. You may read that Makkah is 20 to 25°C in January; that is the average over day and night (about 24°C), so expect warm afternoons for Tawaf and cool evenings.

January has more rainy days in Makkah than any other month, though still fewer than two on average. Pack a fleece or warm shawl for Madinah after sunset; Ihram stays comfortable in Makkah at any hour.

From £500 per adult with four sharing for an Economy week in January, rising to £1,135 on Luxury; ten nights start at £560 and fourteen at £640. What Does a January Umrah Cost in Total?

The package price is most of it: return flights, the visa, both hotels and the transfers are all included, so what you add is travel insurance, meals beyond your plan, Ziyarat on Economy and 3 Star, and spending money. Meals depend on the tier: Economy and 3 Star are room only, 4 Star includes breakfast (half board on 14 nights), 5 Star half board (full board on 14 nights) and Luxury full board.

Room sharing changes the price most. On the Economy week, four sharing pay £500 each, three sharing £600 each and two sharing £750 each. A family of two adults, a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old in one 4 Star room for fourteen nights pays £2,795 in total; see Umrah with young children for every age band.

Which Part of January Is Best for Umrah?

Mid-January is the sweet spot: the Christmas holidays are over, prices are back to year-round rates and the weather is at its coolest. Trips that start before schools return around 4 January carry holiday pricing. In late January the month of Sha'ban is under way, and a fourteen-night trip needs to leave by about 24 January to be home before Ramadan starts around 8 February.

Working pilgrims can return on a Saturday or Sunday and be back at work on Monday; we set the flight days around your leave in the quote.

Should You Book 10 or 14 Nights in January?

If your leave allows, yes: in January three extra nights on Economy cost £60 more than a week, and a full fortnight £140 more. On 4 Star, ten nights cost £50 more than seven and bring Ziyarat with them; on 5 Star, fourteen nights add full board. Compare a 7-night Umrah, ten-day Umrah trips and a 14-night Umrah.

FLYING IN JANUARY

Can You Fly Direct for a January Umrah?

Yes. Saudia is the only airline flying direct from the UK, to Jeddah, from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, and from Birmingham on selected dates; there is no direct flight to Madinah, and every other UK airport connects through a hub. Checked baggage on our flights is usually 20 to 25 kg, confirmed in your quote. On Saudia, Zamzam water is carried on top of your baggage allowance; other airlines set their own rules, and we tell you the allowance before you pay. Road transfers are included; the Haramain high-speed train between Makkah and Madinah can be quoted as an upgrade.

Should You Go in January or Wait for Ramadan?

Go in January for the lowest prices and the coolest weather; wait for Ramadan for the reward of Umrah in the month of fasting, at a higher price: our last-ten-nights packages start at £1,585 per adult with four sharing for eleven nights. January is also the time to book Ramadan, since our Heathrow Ramadan departure on 27 February must be paid in full by 7 February.

Yes. Makkah's afternoons average 31°C and Madinah's nights 12°C, the lowest of any month.
Do I need the ACWY vaccine for Umrah in January?
Yes. Umrah pilgrims need a meningitis ACWY vaccination certificate. It applies in every month; the Umrah visa guide lists the other documents.
Would a late-January Umrah run into Ramadan?
Only if it returns after about 8 February. A trip that does reaches Ramadan nights, which are priced for those dates in the quote.

Can two adults pay the four-sharing price in January?

How long is the train from Makkah to Madinah?
About two and a half hours on the Haramain high-speed railway, which we can add to any January package; by road the journey takes four to five hours.
Are meals included in a January Umrah package?
Room only on Economy and 3 Star; breakfast on 4 Star; breakfast and dinner on 5 Star; every meal on Luxury. The 14-night 4 and 5 Star packages add more.
