Which Airport Is Closest to Leicester for Umrah?
East Midlands Airport is closest, about 30 minutes away, but it flies mainly holiday routes in Europe and North Africa, so most Leicester pilgrims fly from Birmingham Airport, about 45 minutes away. From Birmingham, Saudia flies direct to Jeddah on selected dates; on other dates you change planes at a hub such as Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, and your quote names the airline. For a direct Saudia flight on more dates, Heathrow is about two hours by road. Every direct flight from the UK lands in Jeddah, not Madinah.

When Should Leicester Pilgrims Go for Umrah?
November, January, June and September are the calm, lower-priced months; the October half-term is cooler than summer, while Ramadan, Christmas and the summer holidays fill first. Leicester City Council's school dates differ from most of England: half-term is 19 to 23 October 2026, the Easter holidays run from 22 March to 2 April 2027, and the summer holidays begin on 12 July 2027. Before Hajj 2027, new Umrah visas stop on 9 March, the last entry is 23 March and you must be home by 7 April. No date has been announced yet for Umrah to reopen after Hajj 2027; our estimate is early June 2027. One Leicester package for each part of the year is below.
