RAMADAN, LAYLAT AL-QADR & EID

March Umrah Packages

March Umrah Packages are the spiritual peak of the year for UK Muslims — in 2026 and 2027 March holds the last 10 nights of Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr and Eid al-Fitr, when an Umrah in Ramadan carries the reward of a Hajj, before prices fall back in the calmer late-March spring. Packages include return flights, an Umrah visa, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, transfers and guided Ziyarat, in 7, 10 or 14 nights across 3, 4 and 5-star tiers, from £699 per person.

Why March Is the Spiritual Peak of the Umrah Year

For UK Muslims, March is the most rewarding — and busiest — month for Umrah, because in both 2026 and 2027 it carries the climax of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. An Umrah performed in Ramadan equals the reward of a Hajj, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught, so this March pilgrimage draws Muslims closer to Allah, which is why Haram-area hotels fill months ahead and prices reach their yearly high. The reward is unmatched, but it comes with the largest crowds and the highest costs of the year. Late March, after Eid, swings the other way — quiet and far cheaper.

The Last 10 Nights of Ramadan and Laylat al-Qadr

March is when the most sacred nights of the year fall. In 2026, Ramadan's last 10 nights run from around 10 to 19 March, with Laylat al-Qadr — the Night of Decree, better than a thousand months — sought on the odd nights (around 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 March). In 2027, Ramadan ends earlier, around 9 March, so its final nights sit at the very start of the month. Pilgrims time these departures for night prayer (Qiyam) and I'tikaf at Masjid al-Haram. Demand for these dates is the highest of the year — book as early as possible. See our Ramadan.

Spending Eid al-Fitr in Makkah or Madinah

March is also Eid al-Fitr — around 20 March 2026 and around 10 March 2027 — and praying the Eid prayer at Masjid al-Haram or Al-Masjid an-Nabawi is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many UK pilgrims. An Umrah package that spans Eid lets you complete the last nights of Ramadan and celebrate Eid in the holy cities. These dates are extremely limited and priced at the peak, so confirm early.

Late March: When Prices and Crowds Drop

Once Ramadan and Eid pass, March changes character completely. From the last week of March, demand falls sharply and fares and hotel rates drop back toward off-peak spring levels — a 7-night package returns to around £699 per person. If you want spring weather and value rather than the Ramadan experience, a late-March or April departure is ideal. See our April for the calm post-Ramadan window.

March Weather in Makkah and Madinah

March is early spring in Saudi Arabia and pleasantly mild. Daytime temperatures in Makkah average 28-33°C (82-91°F), and Madinah is cooler at 23-28°C (73-82°F). Nights are comfortable at 17-21°C (63-70°F). March is warmer than the winter months but still well below the summer peak, so light, breathable clothing, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle keep daytime Tawaf comfortable.

Best Ziyarat Sites to Visit in March

March's mild spring weather suits guided Ziyarat — the tours of historical Islamic sites — though during Ramadan many pilgrims focus on worship and schedule Ziyarat after Eid. Every March package includes guided Ziyarat in both holy cities. Around Makkah you visit Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira), the Cave of Thawr, Jabal Arafat and Mina; a spring day trip to Taif can be added. In Madinah the tour covers Masjid Quba (the first mosque in Islam), Masjid al-Qiblatain, Mount Uhud and Jannat al-Baqi. For the rituals themselves — entering Ihram, performing Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa'i between Safa and Marwah — an English-speaking guide assists you on arrival at Al-Masjid al-Haram.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is March a good month for Umrah?
Yes — for reward, March is the best month of the year because it holds the last 10 nights of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2026 and 2027, when an Umrah equals a Hajj in reward. It is also the busiest and most expensive, while late March, after Eid, becomes quiet and good value.
Does March Umrah fall in Ramadan?
Yes. In 2026 Ramadan runs until around 19 March, so most of the month is Ramadan; in 2027 Ramadan ends around 9 March, so the first week is Ramadan and the rest is post-Ramadan. Both years include Eid al-Fitr in March.
When are the last 10 nights of Ramadan and Laylat al-Qadr in March?
In 2026 the last 10 nights run from around 10 to 19 March, with Laylat al-Qadr sought on the odd nights — around 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 March. In 2027 they fall at the very start of March. These are the most sought-after Umrah dates of the year.
Can I spend Eid al-Fitr in Makkah or Madinah in March?
Yes. Eid al-Fitr is around 20 March 2026 and around 10 March 2027. A March package spanning Eid lets you complete the last nights of Ramadan and pray the Eid prayer at the Haram, though these dates are very limited and priced at the peak.
Are March Umrah packages expensive?
During Ramadan and Eid, yes — Haram-area hotels and flights reach their highest prices of the year and sell out months ahead. After Eid, in late March, prices fall back toward off-peak levels, from around £699 per person.
Is late March cheaper than early March?
Usually, yes. Once Ramadan and Eid pass, demand drops sharply, so the last week of March is far cheaper and quieter than the Ramadan period earlier in the month.
Will Umrah be open in March 2026?
Yes. Umrah operates throughout Ramadan, including March 2026, and the Saudi Nusuk platform and Umrah visas remain open. Ramadan is the busiest Umrah season, so early booking is essential.
What is the weather like for Umrah in March?
March is mild early spring. Makkah averages 28-33°C in the day, Madinah is cooler at 23-28°C, and nights are comfortable at 17-21°C — warmer than winter but below the summer heat.
Do I need a Mahram to perform Umrah in March?
No. Since 2022, women can perform Umrah without a Mahram in any month, including March, travelling alone or in a group. See our women's Umrah packages for details.
Which UK airports offer March Umrah departures?
We arrange March departures from London, Manchester and Birmingham, with connecting options from Bradford (Leeds Bradford), Glasgow and other UK airports.
Are March Umrah packages ATOL protected?
Yes. Every flight-inclusive March Umrah package is ATOL protected, so your money and return flight are financially secured.
