More Information

What Are Family Umrah Packages?

A family Umrah package is an all-inclusive pilgrimage built for travelling together, from £699 per person. It bundles return flights, an Umrah visa, family rooms in Makkah and Madinah, airport and intercity transfers, and guided Ziyarat, with cots for infants, wheelchairs for elderly parents and triple or quad sharing to keep everyone in one room. The aim is one stress-free trip where parents focus on worship and children on the experience.

Insha Travel arranges family Umrah from every UK city — including London Heathrow, Glasgow, Cardiff and Edinburgh — to Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, across 3, 4 and 5-star tiers. Browse all Umrah package deals.

Performing Umrah With Children

Children of any age can perform Umrah, and there is no minimum age. There are 4 things to plan:

  • Each child needs their own Umrah visa, applied for under a parent or guardian, with the parent named on the booking.
  • Children under 2 usually travel as lap infants; cots are available in most hotels on request.
  • We offer reduced child rates and infant fares, so a family booking costs less per child.
  • Keep children engaged with short Tawaf sessions, cooler prayer times and breaks, rather than long days at the Haram.

Performing Umrah With Elderly Parents

Elderly and less mobile pilgrims are well catered for. We book hotels within a short, step-free walk of the Haram to cut walking, arrange wheelchairs at the airport and the mosques, and can request ground-floor or lift-accessed rooms. Wheelchair Tawaf and Sa'i are permitted, and assistants can be hired at the Haram. Tell us about mobility, dietary or medical needs and we plan around them.

Best Months for a Family Umrah

Families travel best during the UK school holidays:

  • February Umrah, May Umrah and October Umrah half-terms — a week off, with October the most comfortable weather.
  • Easter Umrah and the summer (July, August) — about 2 weeks off.
  • December Christmas holidays — cool weather, ideal for children and elderly.

Family Rooms by Hotel Tier

Every tier offers family rooms with triple, quad or connecting options:

  • 3-star Umrah — budget family rooms 10-15 minutes from the Haram, from £699.
  • 4-star Umrah — comfortable family rooms with breakfast, from £749.
  • 5-star Umrah — spacious Haram-view family suites, from £899.

Family Umrah Packages by Duration

Family packages run in 3 main durations:

  • 7 nights — fits a half-term week.
  • 10 nights — a balanced family stay.
  • 14 nights — the full school holiday, best value per night.

What to Look for in a Family Umrah Package

A good family Umrah package has 5 features: family rooms close to the Haram to keep walking short, child and infant pricing, cot and wheelchair support, direct flights where possible to reduce travel time with children, and 24/7 UK support. Meals are room-only as standard, with breakfast or half-board as an add-on. See our visa guide and health requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does each child require their own Umrah visa?
Yes. Each child needs their own Umrah visa, applied for under a parent or guardian who is named on the booking. We handle the application for the whole family together; see our Umrah visa guide for the process.
Do you offer child and infant discounts?
Yes. We offer reduced child rates and lower infant fares, so a family booking costs less per child than the adult price.
How much does a family Umrah package cost from the UK?
A family Umrah costs from £699 per person and works out cheaper per head than booking separately, because children travel at reduced rates and share one family room. A family of four or five usually pays less per person than two couples. For the cheapest family dates, travel in an off-peak school week such as the May or October half-term.
Are family packages available with triple or quad sharing rooms?
Yes. Family packages come with triple, quad and connecting rooms across all 3 tiers, so the family can stay together in Makkah and Madinah.
Can I book a family Umrah with child-friendly hotels near the Haram?
Yes. We book hotels within a short walk of the Haram with family rooms, so walking is short with children and elderly parents, and cots are available on request.
What is the best month for a family Umrah?
The UK school holidays are best: February, May and October half-terms, Easter, the summer holidays, and the December Christmas break. October and December have the most comfortable weather for children and elderly.
Can elderly or disabled family members get extra help?
Yes. We arrange wheelchairs at the airport and mosques, hotels close to the Haram, and accessible rooms. Wheelchair Tawaf and Sa'i are permitted and assistants can be hired at the Haram.
Can I pay for a family Umrah in instalments?
Yes. Deposits start from £50 per person with interest-free instalment plans, which helps spread a larger family booking before departure.
Is Umrah safe for children?
Yes. Umrah is safe for children of any age. Plan short Tawaf sessions, travel in cooler months, keep children hydrated, and stay near the Haram to keep walking short.
