More Information
October is the autumn family Umrah month for UK Muslims, for two reasons. The October half-term gives families a school-friendly week to travel — the first family window since the summer holidays — and the weather is arguably the most comfortable of the whole year, with the summer heat gone but winter not yet arrived. Outside the half-term week, October is quiet shoulder season with good value, while the half-term itself is the one busy, higher-priced spell. It is a popular all-round month that suits families, couples and first-time pilgrims alike.

The UK October half-term — usually the last week of October (around 26-30 October 2026 and 25-29 October 2027, with Scottish schools breaking earlier in the month) — is the key family window of autumn. A 7-night package fits the week neatly, letting parents take children for Umrah without missing school, in comfortable weather. Half-term places are in high demand and sell out early, with the highest October prices, so book well ahead. See our Umrah for families.
October is mid-autumn in Saudi Arabia and many pilgrims' favourite weather window. Daytime temperatures in Makkah average 34-39°C (93-102°F), easing as the month goes on, and Madinah is cooler and very pleasant at 30-35°C (86-95°F). Nights are mild at 24-28°C (75-82°F). Gone is the punishing summer heat, so daytime Tawaf and the outdoor Ziyarat are comfortable — a major reason October is recommended for first-time pilgrims and families with children.
October has two distinct phases. The half-term week brings UK and other European families, so the Haram is busier and prices peak for that week. The rest of October is quiet shoulder season, with fares and hotels back near their lows, from around £699 per person. For value, travel outside the half-term week; for the school break, book the half-term as early as possible. For the lowest prices in any month, see our cheap Umrah.
October's comfortable weather makes it one of the best months for guided Ziyarat — the tours of historical Islamic sites — with pleasant daytime temperatures for the outdoor and uphill sites. Every October package includes guided Ziyarat in both holy cities. Around Makkah you visit Jabal al-Nour (the Cave of Hira), the Cave of Thawr, Jabal Arafat and Mina; a day trip to Taif is lovely in the autumn cool. In Madinah the tour covers Masjid Quba (the first mosque in Islam), Masjid al-Qiblatain, Mount Uhud and Jannat al-Baqi. For the rituals themselves — entering Ihram, performing Tawaf around the Kaaba and Sa'i between Safa and Marwah — an English-speaking guide assists you on arrival at Al-Masjid al-Haram.
Pick your October Umrah by hotel rating, length of stay or departure city:

Every October Umrah package includes return UK flights, Umrah visa processing through the Saudi Nusuk platform, hotels near Al-Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, all transfers and guided Ziyarat; meals are room-only as standard, with breakfast or half-board as an add-on. Insha Travel is an IATA-certified UK Muslim travel agency and every flight-inclusive package is ATOL protected, with hotels near the Haram and UK-based support.
