Is December a Good Time for Umrah?
Yes. December is one of the coolest months in Makkah, with an average high of 33°C, and the Christmas holidays give UK families two weeks away without missing school; the trade-off is that the Christmas weeks cost more. Early December is still term time and sells at our year-round prices.

How Cold Is It in Makkah and Madinah in December?
Cool by Saudi standards: Makkah averages 33°C by day and 21°C at night in December, and Madinah 26°C by day and 14°C at night. Both cities are 3 to 4°C cooler than in November, in the middle of the winter Umrah season.
Madinah's nights are close to the coldest of the year, so pack a warm layer for Fajr at the Prophet's Mosque; Makkah's nights stay mild enough for Ihram. December also brings Makkah its most rain of the year, about 25 mm, though on average it falls on only one or two days.

In early December the year-round prices apply: 3 Star from £535, 4 Star from £580, 5 Star from £835 and Luxury from £1,135 for seven nights. Which Christmas Umrah Departures Can You Book?
This Christmas our dated departures leave Manchester on 17 and 19 December, Heathrow on 21 December and Stansted on 22 December, for eight to fourteen nights, and all are home by 2 January. Each has a fixed number of seats, and one of this year's Christmas departures has already sold out. Earlier in the month, a fourteen-night Umrah with nights in Istanbul leaves Heathrow on 1 December, and any other December date can be quoted on a year-round package.
ANNUAL LEAVE
How Much Annual Leave Does a Christmas Umrah Take?
About seven working days: with bank holidays on 25 and 28 December and 1 January, leaving on Saturday 19 December and flying home on Sunday 3 January uses seven days of leave for fifteen nights away. A ten-night trip from 21 to 31 December uses the same seven days, so the longer stay costs extra nights but no extra leave. Schools go back around 4 January, so coming home on 2 or 3 January gives families a day to settle.
RAJAB 1448
When Does Rajab Begin in December 2026?
Rajab 1448 is expected to begin around 10 December 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon, so most December trips fall in the first weeks of Rajab, one of the four sacred months. Sha'ban follows around 9 January, and Ramadan around 8 February 2027.

What Does a December Umrah Cost a Family of Four?
Two parents with two children aged 2 to 11 in one room pay £1,890 for an early-December Economy week: £500 for each adult and £445 for each child. An infant under 2 adds £155 on the same week, and every child, infants included, travels on their own visa as part of their place. Over Christmas, each departure's card lists its own child prices. AIRPORTS AND AIRLINES
Is It Cheaper to Fly From Manchester or Heathrow in December?
It depends on the date more than the airport: per night, this Christmas our 14-night Manchester departure (about £120 a night) costs less than the 10-night Heathrow departure (about £127) or the 8-night Stansted one (about £138), per adult with four sharing. The longer the trip, the more nights share the cost of the Christmas flight. Saudia is the only airline flying direct from the UK, to Jeddah, from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, and from Birmingham on selected dates; there is no direct flight to Madinah, and every other UK airport connects through a hub. Our Christmas departures connect through Bahrain, Doha, Cairo or Istanbul.

Yes to both. Every tier includes guidance: a step-by-step e-guide on Economy (with a group guide on 14 nights), a group orientation or printed guide on 3 Star, an Umrah guide on 4 Star, a scholar-led guide on 5 Star and a private guide on Luxury. Private guides who speak English, Urdu, Punjabi or Bengali can be added.

Should You Go in December or Wait for January?
Go in December if you need the school holidays; wait for January if you can travel in term time, because January dates return to year-round prices and bring the coolest weather of the year. Madinah averages 12°C at night in January against 14°C in December.

£50 per person holds your booking and is part of the price; 50% of the price is due within 24 hours, and the balance 20 days before departure. Every package with flights is protected by ATOL 74904. Busiest over the Christmas holidays and at weekends, when UK families arrive; the first half of December is calmer. Fridays are full in every month, so go early for Jumu'ah.
